DESCRIPTION:One World Beats at the Community Cookout\n\nBrigadoon Civic League is pleased to welcome One World Beats to kick off our Annual Community Cookout! \nEveryone in the Virginia Beach community is invited to enjoy an afternoon of food\, music\, and family fun at Brigadoon Pines Park. From 11 a.m. to noon\, father-and-son duo JuJu Drum and Gary “G” Garlic Jr. will bring lively percussion\, music\, and movement to the cookout. \nFor more than a decade\, One World Beats has performed throughout Hampton Roads\, sharing an energetic mix of rhythms\, audience participation\, and musical fun for all ages. Both performers are experienced music instructors with backgrounds in a variety of percussion styles\, and their performances encourage audiences to listen\, move\, and take part. \nBring your dancing shoes\, bring the family\, and come enjoy a fun start to the cookout! \nRSVP

SUMMARY:Intro to Belly Dance
DESCRIPTION:THIS CLASS DATE IS CURRENTLY BEING RESCHEDULED. PLEASE STOP BACK. \nJoin in this 45-minute class for a new spin on learning and movement! \nOur belly dance class will focus on various dance styles from across the Middle East and North Africa. Explore a new way to stay connected\, learn about different cultures\, build community\, and experience the joy of dance and movement. All are welcomed and no previous dance experience is necessary. Suitable for all ages. Registration is required. \nREGISTER TODAY\nAbout the instructor: \nJaclyn\, or Jackie for short\, is originally from Queens\, New York. She is a self-taught dancer who later on studied from multiple instructors in Israel\, New York City\, and Boston. In 2015\, Jackie won 1st place in the Desert Rose Belly Dance Competition by Dorit Arobas in Eilat\, Israel. She is a graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst\, where she studied Communication and International Relations and in 2011\, co-founded the award winning UMass Belly Dance Club which became a major organization on campus and has reached over 230 students and later started the Northeastern Belly Dance Club in Boston\, MA. Jackie is also a certified Belly Dance Instructor from the 2014 BellyQueen Teacher’s Training with Kaeshi Chai and was a part of the professional belly dance troupe Raks Al Zahra by Natalie Nazario.
